Dr. Strock Rides For A Cure

The countdown is on for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC)! This amazing fundraiser takes place from Aug. 6-7, and Dr. Heather Strock will be part of it. The event is called a challenge for a good reason. Participants like Dr. Strock traverse nearly 200 miles by bike.

Their efforts raise funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Strock and her husband, Michael Strock, are part of the Boston Bruins Foundation team. They’ve spent months gearing up for the PMC. “We have been training since April, working our way up to 90 miles,” she says.

Their typical week includes a long-distance ride of about 70 miles, a shorter ride of 15 to 20 miles, and two days of yoga. This training helps them prepare for the intense PMC, which challenges riders to cycle 110 miles the first day and 82 miles on the second day.

The Strocks have also participated in other charity biking events. In June they rode 80 miles in the ALS Tri-State Trek, followed by 55 miles in July for Reid’s Ride.

Dr. Strock has also spent months fundraising, from auctions to word-of-mouth. Everyone at Future of Dentistry is so proud of her! “Dr. Strock has done an incredible job preparing for the race and advocating for a truly worthy cause,” says Dr. Gerry Casazza, founder of Future of Dentistry.

An inspiration — in the truest sense of the word — is behind Dr. Strock’s PMC efforts. She rides in honor of her father-in-law, Rick Strock, who recently passed away. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Mr. Strock decided to fight. He continued his fight for 22 years thanks to his indomitable spirit and the support of his loved ones.

“Without the wonderful doctors and staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Rick would not have been able to accomplish all he did,” adds Dr. Strock.
