Snoring And Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Is snoring or sleep apnea ruining your life or the life of someone you know?

Recent research has led to the development of a simple and safe anti-snoring device that reduces or even eliminates snoring.

The device is similar to a mouthpiece that positions the lower jaw forward as you sleep.

The tongue, being attached to the lower jaw, is simultaneously pulled forward, which makes it less likely to fall back into the throat, block the airways and cause snoring.

What Is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea often goes undetected, yet its consequences can be severe. Loud snoring disrupting sleep may be a sign of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

OSA is a breathing disorder where airway blockage, usually from a relaxed tongue, causes individuals to stop breathing at night. This interruption triggers a gasping, snorting response as the brain signals the need for oxygen.

Each apnea episode can last up to 30 seconds, occurring frequently throughout the night. This leads to a significant reduction in oxygen intake, potentially resulting in serious health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

A sleep study, or polysomnogram, is used to diagnose sleep apnea.

Don’t let sleep apnea jeopardize your health—seek diagnosis and treatment today.

Sleep Apnea Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of Sleep Apnea

Knowing the signs and symptoms of sleep apnea can help you identify and address this potentially serious condition:

  • Loud or chronic snoring
  • Choking, snorting or gasping for breath during sleep
  • Long pauses in your breathing
  • Daytime sleepiness, no matter how much time you spend in bed
  • High blood pressure
  • Forgetfulness and not being able to concentrate
  • Moodiness, irritability, depression, changes in temperament

If you feel you might have sleep apnea, the first thing to do is undergo a sleep study and get a diagnosis from a certified sleep doctor.

Who is at risk?

Anyone can have sleep apnea, no matter their age or gender. Even children can have sleep apnea, which is commonly caused by enlarged tonsils and adenoids. However, some people are more at risk than others. You may have a higher risk of sleep apnea if you are:

  • Overweight
  • Male
  • Related to someone with sleep apnea
  • Over age 65
  • African American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander
  • A smoker

Other risk factors include having a thick neck, deviated septum, receding chin, or enlarged tonsils or adenoids. Allergies have been known to contribute to sleep apnea.

Tanya was excellent!
Can’t say enough wonderful things about this team at the Dracut location. I have such a phobia of the dentist and my first visit here several years ago was for a dental emergency and was in agony for days over the holiday weekend. After seeing my regular dentist and being disappointed with their recommendations, I called this office after it was highly recommended by a friend. This was the best decision I could have made. I called and explained my situation, they got me right in, provided me with all the information I needed in order for me to make the best decision possible. They made me feel comfortable, cared for, like family. They were top notch. Dr. Levesque is so patient and really prioritizes my comfort while providing exceptional care. Doris, my dental hygienist is the best. She so gentle and caring. The ladies at the front Gaby and.Doris are so helpful and friendly. For any and all dental needs, please run to this office, you will not be disappointed!

I can't say enough about everyone here! Friendly, helpful, and just accomodating... I won't mention their 5 star faces..... thats an understatement...😊 But can I tell you that Dr.Robinson/ Sacchetti is the most AMAZING dentist!!! I have been told by MANY dentists before Dr. Robinson , that they were NOT able to offer the work she did for me!!! I am SO BLESSED to know her and be treated with such perfection!! Come here and you'll be CONVINCED! She better come back from Oregon!! 😉🎀💝
