4 Reason To Look For The ADA Seal

By Dental health, General dentistryNo Comments

North Andover cosmetic dental and adult braces

Here’s a suggestion from Future of Dentistry: when you go to the store for dental products, be sure that what you choose has the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.

Here are four ways the ADA seal can help you make good oral care choices for you and your family.

Products with the seal have to be safe and effective, so you won’t waste your dollars on something that won’t work, or worse, can harm you.

The ADA only places its seal on a product after serious scientific testing. This usually means that manufacturers have to meet higher standards than those required by law.

When you purchase products with the ADA seal, it’s practically like shopping with us right by your side! Who wouldn’t want that extra knowledge and information?

The ADA seal is not the organization’s endorsement of one particular product or another, but a verification of the claims made by that product.

At Future of Dentistry we want all our patients to enjoy good dental health, and one of the ways you maintain it is using quality dental care products. Patients from throughout Greater Boston and Merrimack Valley come to us for our family and cosmetic  dentistry. Call for an appointment today!

Which Tooth Whitener Works Best?

By Cosmetic dentistry, Teeth whiteningNo Comments

Dazzling White Teeth in Wakefield

A beautiful smile can light up a whole room. And since a smile is one of the very first things that other people notice, it can serve you well in any social setting. If you’re teeth have grown yellow and dull over the years, professional teeth whitening from Future of Dentistry can restore the natural beauty of your smile.

Everything from the foods we eat to the drinks we consume leave their mark on the surface of our teeth. Things like blueberries and red wine are especially known for leaving stains. Factor in the accumulation of plaque and tartar, and you might not like the smile you see in the mirror each morning.

Having your teeth whitened professionally can be a huge boost for your self-confidence. You’ll look younger, and find it easier to make a positive impression on other people. This helps to explain why teeth whitening is one of the most in-demand treatments in cosmetic dentistry.

There are lots of whitening products you can pick up at the grocery store. Rest assured, no strips, gels, or toothpastes can match the results you’ll get from professional whitening.

Teeth whitening at Future of Dentistry is safe and effective. We’ve whitened the smiles of patients from throughout Greater Boston and Merrimack Valley, who also come to us for general and family dentistry. Schedule an appointment today!

The 4 Stages of Gum Disease

By Dental health, General dentistry, Gum diseaseNo Comments

four stages of gum disease Boston

Gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It’s a progressive condition, and is easily treatable in its earliest stages. From Future of Dentistry, here are the four main stages of gum disease.

Gingivitis

The main symptoms of gingivitis include red or swollen gums that cause discomfort while brushing and flossing. You may notice bad breath on occasion. Gingivitis is often caused by the buildup of bacteria on teeth and the gum line.

Early Stage Periodontal Disease

This means an infection has spread beneath your gums, allowing harmful bacteria to begin harming the bone holding your teeth in place. An aggressive treatment plan can prevent it from getting worse.

Moderate Periodontal Disease

Moderate periodontal disease involves more advanced care. Surgery can reshape your gums and close pockets between the gums and teeth to reduce plaque buildup. This may sound intimidating, but the prognosis can be good.

Advanced Periodontal Disease

Flap surgery is common for this stage and involves cleaning the actual roots of your teeth by scrubbing behind your gums. Weakened bone can be smoothed or shaped to avoid bacteria from collecting.

Daily brushing and flossing, along with regular checkups at Future of Dentistry, can prevent gum disease. Patients from throughout Greater Boston and Merrimack Valley rely on our care, and also  come to us for complete general and family dentistry. Schedule an appointment today!

Is Perfect Possible?

By Cosmetic dentistryNo Comments

cosmetic dentistry

Are you thinking about improving your appearance with a smile makeover? Are you skeptical when you hear promises of a “perfect” or “celebrity” smile? Well, at Future of Dentistry, so are we.

After all, perfect is a pretty tall order. So let’s do a reality check, and review two of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures and the results you can expect.

  • Porcelain Veneers can remedy several problems. They can fix chips, cracks, minor tooth misalignment, tooth discoloration, unattractive tooth shape, and disproportionate tooth size. Can a veneer create a perfect tooth? While veneers don’t repair decay, they can turn unappealing teeth into teeth.
  • Teeth whitening is a non-invasive cosmetic dental treatment that dramatically improves a smile. However, some dentists guarantee amazing results for any patient who wants a whiter smile.

We only recommend teeth whitening for patients who are good candidates. If you have crowns in the front of your mouth, or gums that have receded, conventional teeth whitening may not lighten your smile.

These and other cosmetic dentistry solutions create sensational smiles, at Future of Dentistry. People from throughout Greater Boston and Merrimack Valley also come to us for dental implants, and much more. Call for an appointment today!
