What Are Invisalign® Clear Braces?
Invisalign® clear braces are an orthodontic device used for teeth straightening and other dental adjustments. Unlike traditional braces, which can be unsightly and painful, Invisalign® clear braces are transparent and comfortable.
Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign® clear braces are a complete game-changer when it comes to teeth straightening. Having straight teeth isn’t just about having an attractive smile; there are also health benefits to straight teeth.
- Too much or too little space between your teeth can damage your gums, leading to redness or inflammation. Having straight teeth helps keep your gums healthy and free from infection.Â
- When teeth are crooked or overcrowded, cleaning them properly can be difficult or impossible. Overcrowding can create spaces where food can get stuck, and plaque can form, and in some cases, floss won’t be able to fit between your teeth. Having straight teeth makes brushing and flossing both easier and more effective.Â
- Crooked teeth can put stress on the gums and jawbone, leading to chronic pain or headaches.Â
- When teeth are overcrowded or misaligned, it’s more likely that the teeth will wear unevenly, potentially leading to damage or even cracked or broken teeth.Â
Faster Results
With Invisalign® clear braces, you’ll get faster results than traditional braces. Traditional braces can take up to two years (or longer!) but with Invisalign® clear braces, your teeth straightening process could be complete in as little as six months. Even better, you start seeing results within weeks. That means less time you need to think about managing your orthodonture work and fewer trips to the dental office.Â
Easier to maintain
Invisalign® clear braces can be removed for easy cleaning of your braces and your teeth! Remove the aligners when it’s time to brush and floss, and rinse your aligners at the same time. You can gently brush them with the same toothbrush for easy maintenance.Â
You can eat what you want
Because Invisalign® clear braces can be removed at mealtime, you can still eat whatever you want. This means that you can undergo teeth straightening without a major disruption to your life or awkwardness at social functions. Just make sure you have the aligners in place 20-22 hours a day.Â
More discrete
We know that if you’re considering straightening your teeth, you care about the appearance of your smile. So why spend as long as two years wearing unsightly traditional braces? Invisalign® clear braces are virtually invisible. Most people probably won’t even notice you’re wearing them, helping you feel confident during the teeth straightening process.Â
How Does Invisalign® Treatment Work?
As with all of our procedures, the first step when considering Invisalign® clear braces is talking with one of the dentists at our Wakefield practice. Luckily, Invisalign® clear braces are an option for most older teenagers and adults who want straighter teeth.Â
At our Wakefield location, we use a computer program to digitally map your smile and create a customized treatment plan for you. You can even preview your new smile! Then, a series of custom-fitted trays are created and molded to the shape of your teeth.Â
The aligners gently push your teeth into the desired position, and as the process progresses, you’ll swap out the trays to gradually straighten your teeth.Â
The overall treatment time depends on several factors, including how drastic a correction is being made and how regularly you wear your aligners. Remember, it’s recommended that you keep your aligners in place for 20-22 hours a day. The aligners should only be removed during mealtimes and when brushing and flossing your teeth.Â
