Digital X-Rays

The team at Future of Dentistry in Chelmsford, MA loves staying abreast of technology and current dental techniques in order to give you and your family amazing smiles!

We are proud to offer digital x-ray technology, a major improvement in dental imaging. This technique allows for much less exposure to x-ray radiation. It is also reusable and environmentally friendly, with no paper waste, no lead film inserts, and no chemicals.

Panoramic X-Rays

We also use digital panoramic x-rays, as well as state-of-the-art Cone Beam Computer Tomography 3D Scan (CBCT) when it is imperative to evaluate a combination of dental elements. With these scanning x-rays, we gain detailed, 3-dimensional views of your entire mouth and surrounding structures.

Most importantly, a broad view of your jaw, sinus, nasal area, and temporomandibular (jaw) joint are exposed in this thorough digital x-ray. This helps us detect impacted teeth, bone abnormalities, tumors, cysts, and missing teeth. It is also a crucial tool in dental implant case planning and design.

Features

  • High-definition digital x-rays enable us to see in the depths of your teeth and bones with extremely high clarity. These minute details are invisible to the naked eye.
  • Using digital x-rays, we can catch small dental problems such as initial decay before they progress.
  • Best of all, you can view your digital x-rays with us, because they are visible on the computer screen!

Intra-Oral Camera

Your face is the first thing people see when they meet you, so it’s no wonder that facial appearance has a huge impact on overall confidence.

Do you ever wonder what we see when we look in your mouth? At Future of Dentistry we use an intraoral camera to see things large and clear, and so can you! The camera provides images that will help you understand the condition of your teeth, as well as the solutions planned by one of our dentists.

The intra-oral photos are also very important for our dental records and for insurance purposes. Intraoral and smile series photos allow you to be an active partner in your dental treatment and give you the opportunity to make treatment decisions with confidence when you have a clear understanding of your dental conditions.

If you would like to see exactly what the dentist sees, we invite you to come to Future of Dentistry and try our intraoral camera technology today!

While viewing your teeth and gums with us, we can pinpoint:

  • Exact areas of decay
  • Broken fillings
  • Chipped teeth
  • Plaque
  • Gum disease
  • Worn teeth

Laser Cavity Detection

The detection of cavities (tooth decay) can be an inexact and often subjective science. To accurately detect cavities in the earliest stages, the dentists at Future of Dentistry use the DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Detection – an amazing breakthrough in cavity detection.

Recently FDA-approved and with more than 90 percent accuracy, the DIAGNOdent fluorescent laser technology enables our dentists to instantly and accurately find decay, often without the need for added X-rays.

Laser-assisted Cavity Detection

Laser-assisted cavity detection is a crucial aid for a more thorough oral exam for you and your family. With this advanced technology, we can locate cavities and decay underneath the tooth’s surface.

The modern laser technology penetrates approximately 2 millimeters inside the tooth’s surface, where decay initially breeds. Some X-rays cannot even discover cavities or decay at their early stages with this much precision!

We are happy to say that DIAGNOdent technology presents many benefits for our patients:

  • Perhaps the most attractive feature for patients is that DIAGNOdent does not require jabbing a pick into the tooth.
  • Detecting decay in its early phases, we can more accurately assess and plan the treatment needed to clean the decay and preserve a greater amount of your tooth.
  • Early cavities can be found, cleaned, and sealed before requiring fillings.
  • We recommend scheduling an appointment so we can accurately assess your oral health using DIAGNOdent technology! Laser cavity detection is key for early detection.
